Once the home of William Armstrong Sorbietrees is your ideal location to stay whatever the reason. Cycle the Reivers Route or Southern Borders Loop, or try out the Newcastleton 7 Stanes. Spend a day at Kielder with its famous water, forest and observatory. Visit Hermitage Castle, Hadrian's Wall, Gretna Green, Jedburgh and Melrose with their famous abbeys, Floors Castle at Kelso, or just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Quiet, comfortable bedrooms, a lounge with log fire and a generous choice of breakfasts will set you up for the day (you probably won't need lunch), it's a great place to stay whatever the reason. We also offer BandB accommodation for horses, either stabled or at grass, so why not bring your horse for a few days holiday and explore our fantastic riding along quiet country lanes, forest tracks and moorland with spectacular views and abundant wildlife. The village of Newcastleton (also known as Copshaw Holm) was purpose designed and built from scratch by the Duke of Buccleuch in 1792 and is now a thriving community with 2 hotels and a pub that offer evening meals, a coffee shop, tea room with gift shop, bank, post office, small supermarket, butchers, newsagents, hardware shop, antique shop, Heritage Centre and garage (please note there is no fuel available in the village, the nearest is Longtown, Langholm or Hawick)

Directions

Sorbietrees is situated within easy distance of the main A7 Borders Historic Route from Carlisle to Edinburgh. From the South turn off the A7 towards Canonbie and follow the B6357 towards Newcastleton. After approx. 9 miles turn right off this road to Kershopefoot and once through this settlement turn left towards Newcastleton and Sorbietrees which is signposted and at the top of this road turn left again and you wil lfind us at the bottom of the hill on the left.From the North leave the A7 at Hawick and follow the B6399 and then the B6357 to Newcastleton. Immediately on leaving the village turn left (signposted Roadhead) cross the riverbridge and bear sharp right. Sorbietrees will be found after approx. 1.5 miles on the right.If you are using Sat Nav please note it will send you to our neighbour at the Flatt Farm so it's best to follow the sat nav to the general area and then follow the directions above.
